What it is
A podcast cut of NHKジャーナル, NHK Radio 1's flagship evening news programme: each episode is a single reported field segment, usually eight to fifteen minutes, on a social or economic story a reporter has actually gone out to cover. Because one subject fills the whole episode, context does a lot of work for you — easier going than a headline bulletin even though the Japanese is the same register. Interviewees speak unscripted and sometimes in regional accents, and there are no transcripts.
Episodes are played straight from the publisher's feed — nothing is hosted here, and the five newest are whatever the feed served when this page was last built. All Japanese podcasts →
