What it actually is

An art historian walks a host through one work or one movement — an icon, a Malevich, a Soviet mosaic — explaining what a contemporary viewer would have seen in it. Because there is a concrete object at the centre, you can look the picture up and follow along visually, which props up comprehension in a way a pure discussion show cannot. Free, from the same team as the Arzamas courses. No transcripts, and art-historical vocabulary is specific.
