What it actually is

A free, ad-supported site whose entries go beyond a definition: pinyin, common sentence patterns, examples set in real situations, a contrast with easily confused words (for 抱怨 it separates 投诉 and 埋怨), and short quizzes. It also has HSK 1 and 2 practice tests and a dictionary of 19,000+ entries, though the fuller guides cover only some words so far. Best used next to a quick-lookup dictionary like Pleco, for the moment you need to know which of two words to say.
