What it actually is

Hondelatte is a storyteller more than a journalist: he takes a case and tells it start to finish in a strong, theatrical voice, with archive tape and witnesses woven in. Because he is performing a written text, the diction is exaggeratedly clear — this is some of the most learner-friendly native French around, despite the grim subject matter. Free, near-daily, huge archive. Sensationalist by design, and no transcripts.
