What it actually is

Short news items published every day in a 1,000-word, 2,000-word and 3,000-word vocabulary version with audio, so beginners can read real current events from very early on — it was still publishing daily in August 2026 and stays free. Level 1 is genuinely accessible at A1–A2, which very little authentic material is. Editing quality is inconsistent, with occasional awkward or ungrammatical sentences, the site is heavy with ads, and the pronunciation in the recordings is not always model-quality, so use it for volume rather than as a model of correct English.
