What it actually is

The trick with Wikipedia as a learning tool is to read articles on subjects you know well in your own language, so context carries you through unfamiliar vocabulary. The Bengali edition is large enough that this works for most general topics. Register is formal and somewhat Sanskritised — good for reading, misleading as a model for speech.
