What it actually is

André Klein's Dino lernt Deutsch series is the best-known German graded-reader set, and this first volume is genuinely enjoyable rather than dutiful — Berlin flatshares, bad jobs, awkward romance. Each chapter has a German-English glossary and comprehension questions, with audiobook versions available. Vocabulary is deliberately narrow, so it's training wheels for reading, not authentic German prose.
