NHKやさしいことばニュース
NHK reads the news slowly in deliberately simple Japanese, as a podcast.
What it actually is
The audio counterpart to NHK News Web Easy: a short radio programme in which the day's news is retold slowly, in plain vocabulary, with difficult words explained as they come up. It is made for foreign residents of Japan rather than for classroom learners, so the topics are real news but the delivery is deliberately gentle — this is one of the very few genuinely comprehensible native-produced news sources. Episodes are brief and the feed keeps only the most recent handful, so subscribe rather than binge. Started in 2026, so there is no deep back catalogue.
