🇳🇱 The best podcasts for learning Dutch

Robin van der Markt narrates Dutch history, culture and current affairs in careful but natural Dutch, and — unusually — puts a free transcript with every single episode. That combination makes it the best value listening resource for learners crossing from A2 into B1. Over ninety episodes exist and it was still publishing in mid-2026. It is aimed squarely at B1/B2; below that the sentence length will outrun you even at the slower pace.

One of the most-recommended Dutch listening podcasts: single-host episodes entirely in Dutch, spoken deliberately slowly, on subjects like the Afsluitdijk, Urk's fishermen and Dutch wartime history. The slow delivery makes it usable well before you can handle native podcasts. Listening is free and the show reached episode 56 by 2026, though it publishes irregularly. Transcripts are sold separately in sets of ten rather than given away, which is the main catch.

Flemish academics answering one question each in about ten minutes, published weekly as video and podcast, 1,200 episodes deep. It is the direct counterpart to Universiteit van Nederland already on this list, and having both is the point: the same format, the same register, and the difference between Belgian and Netherlandic Dutch laid out over hours of speech instead of described in a paragraph. Native pace with no learner support, so this is graduation material.

Dutch professors give short, well-produced lectures on sleep science, neurology, technology, history and law, released free as both video and podcast. For advanced learners it is the natural next step after news: structured argument, abstract vocabulary and a single clear speaker rather than crosstalk. Completely free, with subtitles available on the video versions. It is made for Dutch native speakers, so specialist terminology comes without explanation.

Mihalis Eleftheriou records real lessons with a real student and walks you through constructing the language yourself using cognates and logic — Spanish, French, Italian, German, Greek, Turkish, Arabic and Swahili are covered. Completely free, no ads, no sign-up, funded by donations. The Spanish course in particular is one of the most recommended free resources anywhere; the trade-off is small vocabulary and no reading or writing practice.
