Antena 1
Portugal's public national station — news, interviews and talk all day.
Talk
What you'll hear
News on the hour, every hour, then long interviews, phone-ins and documentary strands with Portuguese music between them. Scripted bulletins at a measured pace, unscripted discussion around them.
Is it any good for learning Portuguese?
The national station to start with, and for register rather than speed: careful standard European Portuguese, topics announced, the same news coming round again across the bulletins. TSF is denser; this is the one you can leave on.
When to listen
On the hour for a bulletin — short, scripted, the most followable Portuguese on the dial.
- Programa da Manhã Weekdays 07:00–10:00
Ricardo Soares, Frederico Moreno
- Antena Aberta Weekdays 11:00
António Jorge
Listeners phone in on one topic. Unscripted, unedited, every accent in the country.
