What it actually is

Mauricio de Sousa's Mônica, Cebolinha and Magali have been the shared reference point of Brazilian childhood for sixty years, and the official channel animates them in short episodes with everyday dialogue and simple plots. Useful past the toddler stage: the language is real conversation rather than sung vocabulary, and the cultural literacy is worth something on its own. Free, publishing weekly. Note that Cebolinha's speech impediment is a deliberate joke, not a model.
