0630 – der News-Podcast (WDR)

What it actually is

Fifteen minutes each weekday morning explaining the news in the way young Germans actually talk: contractions, particles, jokes, and a habit of stopping to define anything jargon-y. That informality makes it a much softer landing than tagesschau, and it is the best place to pick up the filler words (halt, eben, ja) that textbooks omit. Free, weekdays, no transcripts; the colloquial speed and slang can bite in the other direction if your German is very formal.
