Lage der Nation
A journalist and a judge argue through the week in German politics, at length.
What it actually is
Philip Banse and Ulf Buermeyer spend well over an hour a week going through German political news with unusual rigour — Buermeyer is a serving judge, so the legal and constitutional detail is real. It is the best single window into how educated Germans actually discuss their own politics, and the show notes list sources for everything. Very hard listening: two fluent speakers at full conversational speed, heavy on institutional vocabulary and abbreviations. Free with an optional paid membership for bonus material.
